Jay Spencer taking his gym routine to a new level

Over the past few months I feel myself reaching a plateau in the gym. I have recently decided to make drastic changes to my workout routine.

Jay Spencer changes gym

After being annoyed that my "home" gym moved to a "NEW & IMPROVED" location I decided to switch gyms to another better equipt gym with friendlier staff. The new "home" gym was awful! Not enough cardio equipment for all the members of the gym, a much smaller facility and a rude POS at the front counter reinforced my decision to pack up my gym stuff and workout elsewhere. For some time I was going to different gyms within the chain with my training partner but his conflicting schedule and choice of gyms was not working for me. Most gyms we went to were too busy get get good equipment or too much of a circus type atmosphere to be taken seriously for my own goals. Keep in mind I still plan on competing at some point in the NPC.

Jay Spencer on cardio

I have recently decided to increase my cardio to 30 minutes a day. I was begining to feel 20 minutes was not enough time on cardio.

Jay Spencer on weights

My training split is still pretty much the same: Monday / chest & biceps, Tuesday / shoulders & traps, Wednesday / back & triceps, Thursday / Legs, Friday / off, Saturday / off, Sunday / optional. I am currently doing straight sets 8-10 reps, 3 sets each. I am considering doing German Volume Training again soon. I found I had great results during that routine so far.

Jay Spencer on diet

My wife and I are on a fairly low carb / high protein diet. We alternate between different kinds of baked fish and chicken. It's pretty much a stripped down and modified version of the Dave Palumbo diet with one cheat day to eat whatever. I had to mention baked salmon is awesome! It also is rich in heart healthy omega acids. Anytime an oil is needed for food only olive oil is used.

Jay Spencer on supplements

In the past few months I have really cut back on all supplements. This is mostly because of the economy and money is a little tight for the supplement budget. Currently I'm out of creatine, almost out of whey protein and I have been rationing everything else I have to stretch out my supplies. I'll be stocking back up soon and the supplement store will be happy to see me again.

Jay Spencer, Jay Spencer and Jay Spencer.... on Google?

Jay Spencer on Google Introduction

Every once in a while, I like to put " Jay Spencer " into Google and keep an eye on the search results. I wanted to point out before I begin my rant on " Jay Spencer " search results that I have a tremendous amount of respect for other people with the name Jay Spencer. Considering my background in SEO and online marketing I always strive to be at the top of heap for searches under " Jay Spencer ".

The Battle Between Jay Spencer Search Results

My first attempt to dominate the first page was a small effort releasing some of my bodybuilding videos under " Jay Spencer " video titles. My videos made several first page results. I also revised the terms on Jay-Spencer.com and was on the 5th place on the first page for " Jay Spencer " Google search results. After getting a little overboard on a second re-vamp of Jay-Spencer.com SEO efforts I slipped onto the second page of Google. Back to the drawing boards when I have time to do some more SEO.

Jay Spencer and the Competing Jay Spencer Results

The first two results for Jay Spencer are about someone named Jay Spencer who grew up in the great depression. This site is the one to beat and I have my eyes on this one! Other random sites pop up for Jay Spencer a Grand Rapids real estate agent on Linkedin and Jay Spencer on Facebook. If you are going to buy a house in that area I couldn't think of a more trustworthy name than Jay Spencer.

Jay Spencer in Conclusion

I wish everyone named Jay Spencer the best of luck out there and good health and happiness!Stay tuned for the next blog from Jay Spencer, a bodybuilder from New England.

Jay Spencer and more on social networking.

On the Jay Spencer blog and Jay Spencer web page I have addressed the issues of social networking sites. The other night on television I caught a glimpse of an ad directed at those foolish enough to post EVERYTHING they are up to online.

The below link is the ad:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT1GvPQG904

(Hopefully this is the correct working link. The computer I'm posting this on has no sound.)

I would have no sympathy for this young person portrayed in this ad. The first thing that comes into my mind is damn she is stupid. Second thing is wow that's creepy. She made her bed and now she must lay in it. Is it me or does it seem that the younger generations have no comprehension of the consequences of their actions? I think most don't, but then again stupidity is unbiased..... every generation has stupid people.

If you post every intimate detail of you life online... DO EXPECT to be judged by others....

Busy, Busy , Busy.....

It is time for another update since I have not been on here blogging for a bit.

I've been so busy recently time is flying by. It was getting so hectic at one point I was not able to get into the gym for two weeks... it feels awful not going to the gym. My wife and i noticed that we are more tired when we don't go to the gym and our bodies feel stiff and have aches and pains.

Being out of the parent's house I have a new appreciation for everything they worked so hard to provide my sister and I growing up. It's amazing the things they managed to get done with everything going on growing up.

Here is a sample of Shahla and I's typical week....

My mom is out of work right now so I like to visit her at lunch time and I stop by in the early evening to change for the gym and see both of my parents. I head out the gym to train with Andrew for about an hour and half. On the car ride to my wife Shahla's gym I follow up on calls from business associates, friends and car club members. Once I get to my wife's gym I do more cardio and follow up on body parts I felt like I didn't work hard enough in my previous workout. At the end of the workout I tan each time for ten minutes to help my skin conditions clear up. I get home around 9:30 ish each night and my wife or I will figure out what to start for dinner. Once Dinner is cooking I often hop into the shower and clean up for the evening. By the time we get in bed it's around 11PM. This is the typical Monday-Thursday routine. Fridays I stop at my parents house after work to work from my old office on business and web projects.

Saturday is typically a day of errands. Banking is done in the morning, filling the laundry card and going food shopping. Also other errands are typically done on Saturdays and the evening is typically followed by watching a movie later that evening once things are settled down.

Sunday is reserved for sleeping in for a bit, having a good breakfast, relaxing and going to see family members on Sunday afternoon. We typically rotate between visiting Shahla's parents, my parents, her brother, and my sister on Sundays. This is done to be fair to everyone.

To complicate things in the winter where I live parking is very limited during the Winter. Getting in late means either no where to park the car or park more than a 1/4 mile from our residence. My car is big and people tend to park poorly during the Winter thus leaving spots only big enough for a smart car.

Crabs in a bucket!

Ever hear the phrase "crabs in a bucket"? I was not familiar with hearing this phrase until I started seeing the woman who is now my wife. I looked up this phrase online and found the following:
When a single crab is put into a lidless bucket, they surely can and will
escape. However, when more than one share a bucket, none can get out. If one
crab elevates himself above all, the others will grab this crab and drag'em
back down to share the mutual fate of the rest of the group.

This phrase can mean many things but it got me thinking about life in general and how other people can influence our lives sometimes for the worse. Someone else may see that you are happy and give bad advice, maybe they will try to steer you in the wrong direction. Some people are easily influenced by others. So many people seem unhappy is it human nature to want to bring people down with them?

Does God send these people into our lives as trials and tribulations? Or do you believe that maybe the situations we find ourselves in are a direct consequence of our actions in this life? Do you believe in Karma? You decide, let's hear your feedback.....

My name is Jay!!!

Over the years I have had many people call me Jason or some other Jayson variant. Folks, I have news for you.

MY LEGAL NAME IS JAY!

This takes a very digustingly common nick-name from the 80's and makes it suddenly unusual.

Mr. & Mrs.Spencer

It's been a bit since my last blog entry but I figured I'd hop on the internet today. I just wanted to take a moment to express how I feel about being married.

In three words: " I LOVE IT! "

It's a wonderful feeling to wake up next to someone in the morning you truly love with all your heart. Even though times are tough financially, I wouldn't change a thing because I am happy and very deeply in love.
